Chris Sandel, Director of Elementary and Jr. High Ministries
For eight years now, Chris has led West Side’s growing ministry to junior high students with excellence. Earlier this year, he accepted the role of interim staff leader for West Side’s Elementary Ministry Team, bringing a fresh perspective and experienced leadership. Because the results have been so positive, Chris will continue directing both Elementary and Jr. High Ministries. His administrative gifts and ability to lead through others will allow Chris to assume this role without diminishing his involvement with our junior high students.
Missy Farley, Associate Director of Elementary Children’s Ministry
After serving for several years in both paid interim and high-level volunteer roles, we are excited to add Missy to our staff. Missy will work under Chris Sandel’s direction to specialize in developing West Side’s Sunday morning elementary programs, The Wild and The Dive. Missy leaves a significant and lucrative professional career to answer God’s call to lead ministry to kids at West Side. Her communication gifts, creative capacities and tremendous work ethic are already known to us. We are blessed to add Missy to our team. She is determined to make Sunday the best day of the week for every kid connected to West Side! In addition to her past educational experiences, Missy is currently pursuing a degree from Lincoln Christian University during her non-work hours. She will join West Side’s staff team near the end of August.
Ryan Janssen, Children’s Ministry Intern
This fall, Ryan will join forces with Chris and Missy, serving as our Children’s Ministry Intern. Although still early in his college career, Ryan has a growing passion for ministry to kids. Ryan will work with the Elementary Team to strengthen our efforts to capitalize on the opening of our new children’s facilities. He’ll also explore mid-week programming opportunities. Ryan’s spiritual authenticity and zeal make his internship with us a win-win.
Chip Ewald, Director of Outreach and Young Adult Ministry
Chip Ewald has accepted our invitation to serve as West Side’s Director of Outreach and Young Adult Ministry and will begin his new position with our staff team on January 3. Chip is a two-time graduate of Lincoln Christian University where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts in Preaching and a Master of Divinity degree from the seminary. Chip comes to us with a broad range of ministry experience, including a six year stint as an Associate Campus Minister at the University of Illinois Christian Campus House. Most recently, Chip and his wife, Chelsea have served as missionaries in Taipei, Taiwan. They will return to the United States in December, along with their first child who is due to arrive in just a few weeks. Chip’s relational approach to ministry, engaging communication style and genuine spirit make him a welcomed addition to our staff. We can’t wait to see Christ use and bless both Chip and his family at WSCC.
